Depression is a Risk Factor For Developing Heart Disease
A Canadian study, published in July has found that women who are depressed are much more likely to develop heart disease.
The study focused on a group of 4,948 men and women aged over 40 years, were around 12 years. The study showed that women who experienced depression in some form at around 70% more likely to develop heart disease than women, experienced no depression in the same period. Weak men in the hand over not seem to be any more likely to develop heart disease than men, were not depressed.
The study provides the results of similar studies in the past have established that depression is closely linked with heart problems. It is suspected that cortisol, which is a stress hormone that is found in higher levels in stressed individuals. High levels of cortisol are of the view that many negative effects on the body such as increased blood pressure, impaired insulin sensitivity, and increased levels of fat around the abdomen area.
It is also possible that depressed people are less likely to care about their Health and therefore might be in poor lifestyle choices such as poor dietary habits, smoking, drinking, and a lack of physical exercise.
While this particular study have not found a direct link between depression and heart disease in men, other studies have found evidence of Relationship. A study published in the British Medical Journal in 1998 found that men who had been diagnosed with depression three times more disease.
